August Sessions

Dear flickers, as you might have noticed, we are still on summer holidays, Berlin was quite warm in August therefore we decided to suspend our sessions until probably next month or so.

Meeting # 13 Waspa International

Another Waspa International for our meeting number 13 as 7 players battled for the competions.
For simplicity reasons we divided the contestants into 2 groups. In each group players play each other only once, the winner of the two groups flicked against each other in the final!
Later on, when Alessandro Portale joined the gang, we played 1 extra game each.
Thanks to the Biesdorf Stadtteilzentrum we had a very big room at our disposal, thank you guys!

Ein weiteres internationales Waspa-Event an unserem dreizehnten Abend, an dem sieben Spieler teilnahmen. Aus Vereinfachungsgründen haben wir diese Teilnehmer in zwei Gruppen aufgeteilt. In jeder Gruppe wurde einmal jeder gegen jeden gespielt und die Gruppenersten haben das Finale ausgetragen. Später, als Alessandro Portale zur Gruppe gestoßen ist, konnte jeder nochmal ein zusätzliches Spiel austragen. Dank an das Stadtteilzentrum Biesdorf, welches uns einen besonders großen Raum für den Anlass zur Verfügung gestellt hat; vielen Dank, Leute! Meeting#12 Waspa International

Last Thursday we step back on the pitch with a great event! We had amazing guests for our first Waspa International Meeting as Hermann Kruse and Oliver Ollnow all they way from the Northern Falcons TFC in Sidney and german champions Marcus Tilgner and Bodo Reckzeh from our cousins down at the Sparta Spreeahten Berlin took part in the tournament.

We were 7 in total and battled each other in exciting matches, at the end what mattered was the new friendships we made and the friendly atmosphere with which we enjoyed this cup.
Congratulations to our 12 year old Oliver for his terrific skills, regardless of the young age he put up a great show out there againt veteran players!

Our 3 pitches were working around the clock to assure even playing time for all the partecipants, in end some player played a bit more, some a bit less, therefore the final standing cames out of dividing points to number of game played, according to percentage of victories over game played our champion is Bodo Reckzeh! Congratulation buddy! here it is:

Donnerstag waren wir zurück auf dem Filz für ein großartiges Event! Wir hatten erstaunliche Gäste anlässlich unseres ersten Waspa-International-Abends: Hermann Kruse und Oliver Ollnow haben den weiten Weg von Northern Falcons TFC in Sydney zurückgelegt und der deutsche Meister Marcus Tilgner und Bodo Reckzeh von unseren „Vettern“ von Sparta Spreeathen Berlin haben am Turnier teilgenommen.

Wir waren insgesamt zu siebent und haben uns in spannenden Spielen gegenseitig herausgefordert. Am Ende zählten aber am meisten die neu geschlossenen Freundschaften und die relaxte Atmosphäre, mit der wir den Pokal bestritten. Gratulation an unseren zwölfjährigen Oliver zu seinen hervorragenden Fähigkeiten. Ungeachtet seines jungen Alters hat er gegen die Veteranenspieler eine großartige Performance abgeliefert!

Unsere drei Felder wurden die ganze Zeit über bespielt, um allen Teilnehmern gleichermaßen Spielzeit sicherzustellen. Am Ende haben trotzdem einige etwas mehr und andere etwas weniger gespielt, so dass zur Ermittlung des finalen Rankings die gewonnen Punkte durch die Anzahl der absolvierten Spiele geteilt wurde. Gemessen an der so ermittelten Quote ist Bodo Reckzeh der Gewinner des Abends. Gratulation, Kumpel! Hier sind die Ergebnisse:

July Meetings

Dear all, July sessions will take place on Thursday 12th and Thursday 19th when we will receive the visit of  Hermann Kruse from Australia.

Be there if you national team just got kick out of the world cup or didn't qualify at all, we know what you are going through....

Meeting #11 Review

Very good session yesterday:  three of us: Erik, Alessandro and Nico. Played 15 minutes without break then swapped opponents. So everyone we played 30 minutes then paused for 15, watching or trained flicking on the other pitch.

Due to previous commitment others couldn't make it, but considering it was a mid summer session, it was quite ok.

Next meeting in two weeks from now, till then.....Ciao!

We were in Mallorca...

The Mallorca Aguilas were so kind as to having me on Thursday night for their weekly training session. They‘re a nice bunch of people and I enjoyed the evening despite being on the losing side. They‘re playing really fast, all of them!!! And the pitch (Astroturf) is fast as well. Why would you polish your bases on such a surface? I regularly overflicked my blocking flicks and in attack all the precision of the pitch didn‘t help as their defence flicks came on the dot. Well done, lads!

It was great to see that they have an own room in a sports complex where four tables are arranged permanently. Lots of Subbuteo references on the wall create a lovely atmosphere, too. And besides the playing aspect they‘ve got a collector of Subbuteo in the team. Lovely! Special thanks to Fabio who kindly took me to an fro Llucmajor. Great to meet you!

Auswärts auf Mallorca

Die Mallorca Aguilas waren so freundlich, mich Donnerstag Abend an ihrem wöchentlichen Training teilnehmen zu lassen. Sie sind ein wirklich netter Haufen und ich habe den Abend sehr genossen, obwohl ich auf der Verliererseite war. Sie spielen wirklich schnell und zwar alle!!! Und das Spielfeld (Astroturf) war auch schnell. Warum sollte man auf so einer Oberfläche seine Sockel polieren? Ich habe regelmäßig meine Verteidigungszüge überflickt und im Angriff nutzte die Präzision des Spielfelds nichts, weil ihre Verteidigungszüge auf den Punkt genau kamen. Gut gemacht, Jungs!

Es war schön zu sehen, dass sie in einem Sport-Komplex ihren eigenen Raum haben, in dem permanent vier Tische aufgebaut sind. Eine Menge Subbuteo-Bezug an den Wänden tut sein übriges zur Atmosphäre beitragen. Und neben dem Spiel-Aspekt haben sie auch noch einen Subbuteo-Sammler in ihren Reihen. Toll! Besonderer Dank gilt Fabio, der mich nach Llucmajor hin und zurück gebracht hat. Großartig Euch zu treffen!

Review Meeting#10

Scorelines were not of the essence as we welcomed two (!) new prospects and introduced them to the beautiful game. Alessandro had already met us on the Biesdorfer Blütenfest recently where he took a first couple of flicks. Christian however prepared well by studying the rules on Wikipedia and watching some Subby action on YouTube. This led to a surprisingly fast game for someone who didn’t ever flick a figure before! Erik advised Christian and Nico told Alessandro how to play in a couple of training matches. At the end of the evening the two newcomers faced each other in a friendly closely watched and refereed by Erik and Nico. As one would expect it ended in a goalless draw although it would have deserved the odd goal or two as some scoring opportunities were created. We‘re looking forward to welcoming back both as soon as possible. Thanks for coming and keep on flicking!

Resultate waren nicht wichtig, da wir zwei (!) neue Talente willkommen hießen und ihnen das wundervolle Spiel vorgestellt haben. Alessandro hat uns bereits kürzlich auf dem Biesdorfer Blütenfest getroffen, wo er ein paar erste Schnipper machen konnte. Christian hingegen bereitete sich gut vor mit dem Studium der Regeln auf Wikipedia und dem Ansehen von ein wenig Subby Action auf YouTube. Dies führte zu einem überraschend schnellen Spiel für jemand, der noch nie zuvor eine Figur geschnippt hat! In ein paar Trainingsspielen beriet Erik Christian und Nico zeigte Alessandro wie man spielt. Am Ende des Abends begegneten sich unter den beobachtenden Blicken und der Spielleitung von Erik und Nico die beiden Neulinge in einem Freundschaftsspiel. Wie man erwarten durfte, endete es in einem torlosen Unentschieden, obwohl das Spiel das ein oder andere Tor verdient gehabt hätte, da einige Torchancen kreiert wurden. Wir freuen uns darauf, die beiden schnellstmöglich wieder begrüßen zu dürfen. Vielen Dank fürs Vorbeikommen und Schnipp & Schuss!
